Meet Kayla

Hello and welcome! I’m Kayla, an award winning interior designer and dog mom to 3. Dogs have always been a part of my life, and they mean the world to me. (All of them, not just mine!!) With over 14 years in the interior design industry, I’ve become fascinated in learning about and educating fellow pet parents (like you!) how to live your best pet friendly life.

During these 14 years, I’ve held various positions of leadership within the design community. And I’ve learned that I absolutely love helping others within this industry flourish. Since August 2017, I’ve had the opportunity to teach interior design courses as an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College. I’ve also learned that I love teaching, watching my students finish their degrees, and then enter into the interior design community.

Homeward Hound Interiors with Kayla Weiner began as a way to bring pet friendly design to clients across the DC Metro area and the United States. Being a pet owner myself, I understand the daily struggles associated with living with dogs or cats. I have assisted my clients over the years in creating harmonious spaces for humans and animals to live, work, and play together. But, I’ve also discovered that my mission is so much more than that.

So, HHI Studio with Kayla Weiner was created. My goal for this website and blog is to become a pet friendly living resource for fellow dog and/or cat owners, as well as professionals in the interior design industry. I have big plans for this site in the coming months and I hope you will find this to be a resource that you visit regularly.

For those looking for one on one or more personalized advice and assistance, I also offer online consulting, coaching, and mentoring. You can learn more on my Work with Kayla page or email me at for additional information.
